Specialized physiotherapy addressing women's unique health needs throughout different life stages. Our compassionate, expert care supports you through pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic health concerns, and beyond.

What Is Women's Health Physiotherapy?

Women's Health Physiotherapy is a specialized branch of physiotherapy dedicated to addressing the unique musculoskeletal and pelvic health needs of women throughout their lives. Our highly trained physiotherapists understand the complex changes that occur during pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, and other life stages that can affect pelvic floor function, core strength, and overall physical wellbeing. This specialized care focuses on conditions affecting the pelvic floor muscles, abdomen, and spine, using evidence-based treatments to restore function, reduce pain, and improve quality of life. We provide a safe, confidential, and compassionate environment where women can discuss sensitive health concerns and receive expert, individualized care.

Who Typically Benefits From Women's Health Physiotherapy?

Women's Health Physiotherapy benefits women at all life stages. Expectant mothers can prepare their bodies for childbirth and learn techniques to aid recovery. New mothers dealing with postpartum issues like diastasis recti, pelvic pain, or c-section recovery find invaluable support. Women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, including incontinence (urinary or bowel), prolapse, or pelvic pain, can achieve significant improvement. Those going through menopause, experiencing painful intercourse, or recovering from gynecological surgery also benefit greatly. Additionally, athletes with pelvic floor concerns, women with chronic pelvic pain conditions, or anyone simply wanting to optimize their pelvic health can access this specialized care in our confidential, understanding environment.

What Does Women's Health Physiotherapy Involve?

Your first appointment begins with a comprehensive, confidential assessment where we discuss your medical history, symptoms, and goals in a comfortable, private setting. Depending on your needs and consent, this may include an external and/or internal pelvic floor assessment to evaluate muscle function, strength, and coordination. Don't worry, you remain in control throughout, and internal examinations are never performed without your explicit consent. Based on the assessment, we create a personalized treatment plan that may include pelvic floor exercises (Kegels and beyond), manual therapy, core strengthening, breathing techniques, posture correction, and education about bladder and bowel habits. We also provide guidance on returning to exercise safely, particularly after childbirth. Treatment sessions are conducted in a private space with utmost respect for your dignity and comfort.
